Question Best hardshell case for Fender Precision 1973

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone!
I own a 1973 Precision Bass, and I've always used the original hardshell case, but as you can imagine nowadays is not in its best condition so I want to buy a new one, which one do you recommend? Brand? Wood or plastic? I want it to be very resistant (as I travel a lot) and I want my bass to fit perfectly. Thanks!!

SKB has a flight certified case for about 140. I own one and it stores/protects my 1975 P. Bargained my way to 125 and it is very nice. I believe the higher end Fender cases are now make by SKB.

Edit: it is similar to this one. http://www.guitarcenter.com/SKB-SKB-...36-i1177906.gc

Wood. Not as thick a case as the plastic molded ones and more rugged imo. Take your bass to a store with good case selection with fender cases and pick the one that fits etc best to you.

If you don't like rectangular cases then: SKB SKB-FB4 Molded Bass Case for P- and J-style Basses and more Bass Guitar at GuitarCenter.com.

SKB has a LIFETIME warranty, that is a powerful reason to check them out. I had a hinge break on my SKB economy case last year and they shipped me a brand new case many years after buying it.

If you really want protection, here you go: Waterproof Injection Molded ATA Bass Guitar Case w/ Wheels by SKB Cases

Remember, it's not about wood vs plastic (that mostly affects weight). What protects your bass is what's inside, namely foam. So you want thick foam and you want a reasonably snug fit so the bass doesn't slide around in the case.

Thanks!! It's very clear that SKB is the most recommended so I think I'll give it a try!!
