Best Setup Work in Seattle area?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been thinking about taking my Stambaugh in somewhere for some general setup work. Setup, intonation, fret crowning. Maybe a little electronics modification too () Stuff like that. And I'm wondering where people would suggest I go? I've gone to Mike Lull in the past and he's done good work for me before, though I've heard some other people aren't too happy with him? Mike's prices seem a little high sometimes...Anyways, I'd like to try someone else maybe. I've heard real good things about Parsons' guitar shop (next to the guitar center in Seattle). Any other suggestions?

Hi, I know you asked for Seattle setup guys, but my friend was impressed by Dean at Tommy's Guitars in Everett. He setup/fixed his Aria AMB bass which was all out of wack. Here's a link to the section about the staff:

It might be worth emailing at least to see if they can do what you want done and for how much.

I'm still keeping an eye out for a good tech too....
The last guy I was using was Alan, the owner of North Bend Guitars, and he was a great tech. But last time I went by the shop, it was gone and no forwarding info. What a bummer!

I didn't get a confident feeling about the Parsons at the Seattle GC.
I walked in there with an old (MIA) Jazz Bass that had a stripped neck screw hole, pretty common repair (dowel and re-drill), and they didn't want to touch it.

There's a guy down in Bellevue at Northwest Guitars, he did a setup and some other assorted work for me on my ATK 300 bass a few months ago and did a great job on it, cleaned up some issues with fret buzz and is overall a really great tech and charges reasonable prices for his work.

For the last 8-9 years, I make the trip all the way from West Seattle to the Spanaway/Graham area to see Lynn Collins @ Guitarshack. By far, he's the best guy I've come across. Great prices, great work & just a wonderful person in general.
