That really depends on what type of string you like.
On my shorties I use GHS 3060 Tapewounds or if they are too long D'Addario SS Tapewounds. On the ones that aren't strung with Tapes, I use GHS Precision of Brite Flats.
I don't like anything about roundwounds, don't use them, even on my six strings I use flats, so have no ability to offer any recommendations there.

First, check the Strings forum. There are one or two mentions of short scale strings there. Second, identify your tone goals. The "BEST" rounds will never sound good if you are after a flats tone, and vice versa. Third, be clear about whether price is a factor.

My pick would be rotosound swing66 shortscale. But then I am biased toward roto's tone. As far as I know DR sunbeams and neons arent available for short scale. Otherwise Id list them as bassically equally good but just a little bit diff sound.

I recently bought a SS and was wondering if it's possible/feasible to put regular scale strings on a shorty. Well...is it?

This is at least the third "best strings" thread in the last 48 hours.

No information about music, type of bass, playing style, etc.

What's the best TV?
And so on.....

Short answer: usually, yes. It may be rather ugly because you'll be cutting in the large diameter playing area of the string. Some tuners may not accept the string...and there is a slight chance the string will break internally.

In a pinch or emergency, go for it. But if you want to do it right, use the right length strings.
