Unhappy Best way to repair a small chip in bass body?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a new MIA Jazz Bass and my daughter hit the body accidently with a music stand below the tone control. It's a sunburst colour and the mark is pin-head sized in the black paint. I'd like to repair but is it something I could do myself or should I take it into a shop? I'm sure it will get more knocks over the years but since it's so new I wanted to repair. Appreciate advice you have to offer.

Aw scratches, dents, and chips are sign of someone who actually plays bass.

I'm no repair man but something that small if the wood is showing I just take a MagicMarker or a Sharpie and color it in and forget about it. I've seen repair guys keep different color markers around for small dings. Then if a bit bigger put a drop of super glue, or other clear glue to keep ding from growing.

Fingernail polish works well and is available in a wide range of colors. Fingernail polish is laquer.

The best way is with a burn-in knife&stick, but thats better left to a professional, also, Stewart-macdonald sells black- colored dap-filling superglue, use just a tiny drop and let dry overnight
