Big 'thud' sound from my Fender Jazz Deluxe

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Guys,

I'm getting a 'thud' sound coming from my Jazz when I play certain notes with a little 'ompf' - which is most of the time. It's quite annoying as I know it takes away from the beautiful sound of the bass. It also happens when I play slap in between the neck and neck pickup. I'm 99% sure it's not hitting the pickup at all.

Any anyone make a recommendation? Should I raise the action a little? I'm getting a small amount of fret buzz so it's a sign that it is low. But it's amazing to play - you can basically look at the neck and the string will press down to make the note

Please give some clues to this! I will record a lick or 3 once I sort out my recording software delema!

Sounds like a setup question, not amp question? But yeah, your action is set to low IMO and IME.

Na, it's not an amp problem. It's something to do with the way the string a moving to the bass.
