bleaching a maple body

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a nice tiger stripe maple P-style body laying about. Thinking about a finish I thought about wood floors that have been bleached to almost white. What I look for is a maple body with a bleached look that at the same time retains the wood figuring. I wonder if anyone ever tried something like that, and haven't the slightest idea if that is possible. Thanks for any input!

I've used wood bleach before. You'll find it in the paint section of your local hardware store.

The kind I used was in powder form and I think it's mixed with water and applied to the wood.

Treat the wood as many times as will get it to the shade you like. Let it dry out completely before applying any finish.
