Block inlays for P-Bass

Currently, my P-Bass has the boring dot inlays on the fingerboard. I really think the black block inlays on the Geddy Lee model jazz bass look great. Can I outfit my neck with these inlays?

Any competent luthier could do it for you.

The way to do it 'right' is to remove the frets, carve the squares into the neck, install the square inlays, then sand the fretboard and inlays so that they are flush and even, then refret.

A cheap alternative is to put fretmarker "stickers" on top of the board. You can feel them, unfortunately, but reports are that they look almost real and stay stuck for a long time.

You can do it properly, but not cheap. Refretting is involved, so more than likely a new neck would be cheaper.

The blocks on the Geddy Lee are painted on. This is something that can be done pretty easily by someone skilled and possessing the right equipment.
