Bodies that'll mate with warmoth 32"

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of mating a Warmoth 32" neck
with a P-bass style body, warmoth is currently offering
short scale J-bodies only, and yes they can get spendy real quick,so here are some of the contenders i've come up with,
assuming neck pockets are compatable;

> Mustang:readily available should be compatable

> Bullet:would need a short scale for this to work

> Cowpoke:these are 34" with downsize P-body,hmm!
perhaps moving the bridge foreward

And the custom build option would have to be near
warmoth price range, see pic below of a custom i tried
to commission, but builder doesn't have enough free time
to take it on,this would be my first choice for a custom

If anyone has other suggestions for a P-body greatly appreciated

Why not just get a regular P body from Warmoth and just don't have them drill the bridge holes so you can put it anywhere you want?

A couple caveats:

-The neck heel (and body neck pocket) on the short scale bodies is narrower than a regular 34" scale body. Using a full size body wouldn't be an option unless you wanted to omit the neck pocket and try cutting one yourself.

- Even if you can fit the neck in a Mustang neck pocket, you'll want to make sure the scale length comes out right. Otherwise, you'll never play in tune.

I wonder if you could cut a shortscale J style body down to look more like a P bass?
