Well, you don't have to. If you feel it's overpriced, you could just wait for something you feel is more reasonable.
For example, for the longest time I wanted a Pink Paisley P. But the thing is, I wasn't willing to pay over $1000 for it. Of course, most places were trying to get $1000+ for the instrument, but I stuck to my guns. Eventually I got a unique Pink Paisley P from a store in Canada for less than $900. I don't regret it one iota.
