Brass Bridge (4 String) Identification

What's the deal with this bridge? It's got some patina as you can see and it has no brand markings on it anywhere. It's heavy as well.

Can anyone shed some light on who makes it and if it had an OEM application? Also, would it be an upgrade over a stock Squier bridge...?

#0000 steel wool will clean it right up.

if it is the right spacing, and if it doesn't leave the strings too high (it looks too narrow and too tall in the picture), it might be cool on a squier. probably wouldn't be a huge difference, though.
