Brass Nut For 5 String EADGC

Sign in to disble this ad
So my main bass is an Ibanez BTB405QM that I absolutely love, and I've strung it EADGC for quite some time. I figured I might as well put a new nut on it since I've recently got some buzz out of it, and since I'm doing a couple mods to it, I figured why not! I'm planning on taking it down to a local bass retailer to get them to fit the nut and cut it properly, but I'd like to get a blank for it ahead of time. The width is about 2 inches I measured it at 1 15/16, but if I measured incorrectly please correct me. Anyone know where I can get this blank or get any advice?

You should try tuning your 5 DGCFA# ... half way between BEADG and EADGC. Get a set of light gauge strings with a .115

Is there any reason in particular that you want a brass nut? Those went out of style 25 years ago.

I played my buddy's euro spector with a brass nut and I loved it, plus I believe most of the Fodera's I've played have had brass nuts. I might have been mistaken on those, but I like what I've played.
