Question Bridge issue with Squier Affinity V

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Guys,

So I picked up a fresh out of the box Squier Affinity V yesterday with some birthday money I had. I didnt want to break the bank on a fiver and this seems to be really good for the money...except the bridge.

First of all, I know this is a cheap instrument and so i'm not thinking of upgrading for better tone necessarily, its purely for functionality. The problem is the dang screws in the saddles buzz like mad and seem unstable; only one of out of each two seem to support a saddle at any one time

I have been looking around and it seems that every 5'er bridge out there has a different number of holes for drilling. My Squier has 5 holes. I was specifically looking at:
the Hipshot Vintage 5 bridge but it has 4 holes?
the Leo Quan V has 6?
Fender replacements but they appear to have 4 or 6?

I was hoping for a direct drop-in replacement but this appears not to be possible for a Squier Affinity V

Any ideas?

Well, by the sound of it, I think that the Hipshot sounds like your best bet, at least then you wont have drill another hole in your bass for it.

don't worry so much about an extra screw hole or two. what's more important is string spacing. the leo quann for example is a good bit wider than what you have now.
