I think the BAIII is a direct replacement with STB, but FWIW, the stock bridge on these might not need replacing IMHO ... maybe try it for a while first? especially with the multi slot saddle options for string spacing ...

Hipshot makes one also. Personaly, I don't like the looks of the stock Fender bridges, so I went with a BA II but mine was a Carvin Lb20. However, the BA III and a hipshot string-thru are available. Gotoh and maybe the Babiz {spelling} are also ones to consider, I like the look and sound of the Leo Quan.

This probably won't help much but I'm more of a traditionalist and like the original bridge.

look for "american standard" or "american deluxe" fender bass bridges on ebay, you should find a bunch. i think the original american standard was one of the best bridges out there, low-mass but still rock-solid.

Gotoh or hipshot would be good choice.

I'm getting a lot of string to string anomoly's with my bridge and am considering a replacement. Possibly the newer high mass bridge.

What is a "string to string anomaly"? (and hey, you're in my neck of the woods; I'll be happy to look at it for you.)

Genuine Fender, string through body OR top load, and solid under your right hand...what's not to like about the bridge on the Fender Roscoe Beck sig bass?

It's about mid page

For me it was my strings not being where I left them when my right fingers went back looking for them. Granted, the movement was small, but it was enough to really throw my timing off.

I replaced the stock L plate, which depends on string tension to maintain position and adjustment, with a bridge where alignment and adjustment are mechanical functions which can be locked in place independent of string tension and I was amazed at how much faster my right hand is on my little mexi j bass now.

The L plate was just not a good fit for me and the mechanical bridge was. It had nothing to do with tone, value of the bass, tradition, or what works for other people. It had everything to do with what worked best for my personal playing style.

It truly is an apples V oranges thing for me instead of a granny smith V fuji taste test.

Sorry for the quick double, but Walter and I have discussed this before and I wanted to update him on what I've learned after some time with the new bridge.

I have them on both of my MIA basses(08 Jazz 2010 P) and like them fine, although tonally I can't tell a whole lot of difference between them(except they have a bit more sustain) and the vintage bridge on my MIM P. They are very well made, I top-loaded both of them when I switched to Chromes. If you have a 3-hole body, it should be an easy fit.

When I play one string, it cause another to ring out. And it's not a subtle thing. I do not like this! I also don't lke the multi grooves in the saddles. Some folks do but I don't.

You have worked on one of my basses previously.

I think this String-Thru Body Bridge | Allparts.com is the compatible Gotoh part. I'm not sure it's significantly different than the stock MIA bridge though.
