bridge and pickup cover on P Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a bridge and pickup cover to put on my MIM P Bass. I can see how the pickup cover should be positioned but there is some variability in the bridge cover. Would somebody who has the bridge cover on their P Bass measure the distance from the end of cover to the end of the bass (by the endpin) and post it here? Thanks in advance!

You can go that route. But a better one could be to figure out whats closest you might occassionally play to the bridge so you make sure to postion front edge of cover before that. You can also vary its position a little from there if desired based on best for hand rest position. Though the original purpose imo was mainly as a gaurd so where where not slicing, scraping and spearing your hand on the nasty sharp screw ends sticking out way to far above bridge saddles. Lol.

Thanks for that, but I'd still be interested in getting the standard measurements.

What I did on my Squier P was position the cover so that it butts up against the back of the bridge, and since the bridge on a MIM P is essentially the same as on a Squier P it should work the same on your P. I don't have the measurements but I wouldn't be surprised if this is how Fender does it.
