Hey, i have a fender MIM precision bass.
But everytime i play for a long amount of time the actions on my bridge decrease in height? - it most commonly happens on the G string.
I have a standard bridge etc.. but because i have a bridge guard its quite a pain to keep taking it off to raise the actions again. I just wanted to know the cause of it and how to overcome the problem.
Any help would be appriciated!
Thanks, Alex. |

| | | | I had that same thing happen to my 2002 MIM fretless when it was new.
Either nail polish, or loctite is supposed to help with that.
Me, I just went for a new bridge. First, a Gotoh 201. I just replaced that last week with a Fender vintage style bridge.
I would recommend the Fender vintage style bridge. Drops right in, and I've never had one strip out. Hope that helps.

| | | | I'm not sure, I've never used a bridge cover with mine. Perhaps someone else here can answer this? I can't say for certain. |

However, I don't know if there will have to be a forward/back adjustment; the screw holes may not align to get the cover to fit. I've only put it over a p-bass that did not already have screw holes.

Up until a few years ago you had no choice - the bass came with the ashtrays attached and so you had the holes!!.
Wait until you drop it for the first time - you'll stop worrying about a couple of screw holes
If you really want to keep the bridge cover - and your current bridge - then use clear nail varnish on the height adjustment screws to stop the bridge saddles from dropping.
