Bridge resto

I have a few basses that have great paint but the chrome and gold plating on the bridges is showing corrosion and pitting. I have others where the patina fits the bass but I need to restore these. Anybody out there attempted this at home? Any luck with home chroming?

Its a major undertaking and expense. Take it to a plating shop.
