Bridge saddle trouble

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had my Fender Mexican Precision for a while and now, and I pretty much love it. However I've always had a problem with the damn bridge. The saddles for the E and G string, after consistant play, drop and slide down on the height screws. I've taken it to a local shop, and they pretty much said they couldn't help. Now, all it takes to fix is a few turns of an allen key, and that's not too much of a hassle when playing at home or at practice. However, we have a show coming up, and I'd like to use the Fender as my main bass (I have a Yamaha as well, so if need be I could use that), but I'm worried that half way through the set the saddles will drop. They generally last longer than the time slot we've been given, but I'd rather minimise the risk.
Is there anyway to fix this problem, or am I looking at a replacement job?
Cheers.

This may be the most popular answer given in this forum.....

1) Loctite, blue color, or;
2) Clear nail polish.

Either will lock the bridge screws in place. Either can be broken loose for later adjustment. DO NOT use red Loctite; it's permanent unless heated.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I ended up buying a Badass II bridge, just because I figured since I want to use this as my main bass I don't want to have to constantly worry about the bridge giving up on me.
