I ordered a new j body from Warmoth to go with a J neck I accquired. I was planning on bolting on a a Badass II I had lying around. Well the Badass I've got is chrome and the body is dark so I am thinking of buying a new bridge (maybe a silly reason but meh.) I am sort of scrambing in the hopes that I might change my order around before they drill the body.
Anyhow I have been very happy with the Badass but I was thinking about maybe going for something different. One feature I was particularly interested in was the variable width birdges. Tremelo is something that I just don't see myself making use of on bass and therefore is not of much interest to me. I definalty like the more massive bridges over those nasty stamped stock fender things. And as far as I am concerned the less springs the better. Perhaps upgrading to a milled bridge like the hipshot A is in my future. I was hoping someone might have some thoughts on this subject, as I haven't found anything definitive from sifting through different bridge related searchs on the forum.
Finally, in the course of my brief research on the subject I came across an article on the graptech ghost system being built into the hipshots and I also have seen on the graphtech site that they make the ghost saddles for a variety of bass bridges now. Has anyone used these as a midi controller? If that actually tracked well I would be in heaven. Ghost bridge > Hexpander Pre-amp > midi to cv > arp odyssey II... just thinking about it makes me wet in the naughty zone. |
