I want a BadAss for my 50's P but not too sure on how it will effect the sound of the wood because of its size, any suggestions?

Might not affect the tone at all, maybe just a little extra sustain. Might also make it difficult to get a low action.

I would try a Hipshot bridge (great), yet these high mass bridges appear to make very little difference (I've tested)

In all seriousness: a simple and cheap Squier bridge will do just fine.

I have a Badass II on Geddy Less Jazz and the only reason I'm keeping it on there is because it left a mark on the body that will look hideous id I replaced it with a smaller bridge. I don't see a difference in tone and I don't like the added weight.

YMMV.

This looks like a good value (HiMass)

Just curious - the weight difference between the two is that significant...or noticeable?

I don't have any experience with the BA line of bridges (I've used the Schaller Roller as a HMB).

High mass versus low mass bridge thread.

This discussion is currently on the same page as this thread. Scroll down and read especially the reply by Turnaround. That very well may be the definitive opinion on the subject.

I replaced the BAII on my Geddy with a Hipshot vintage. With the Hipshot, my Geddy sounds like a good old J. I also love the Hipshot's quick loading feature.
