Are there any differences between the standard Squier AFN, VM, and CV bridges, and a Fender? They all look the same to me. |

This is due to CV '60 bridge and Highmass being with a wider string spacing. Also the footprint is larger.
So check the specs (drawings) on each one-you'll see. This is from personal experience on changing it out. |

| | Tuxedo BassŪ - That's Me! | | Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Hamilton, Montana | | | I got into the Fender catalog one day when I was Googling some Squier part numbers concerning bridges.
For the most part, a Squier bridge and a Fender of the same number are that - the same.
Now - some believe even the old Squier Affinities somehow have an inferior bridge as Fender won't put their 'good gear' on a cheap Chinese bass.
Wrong. There are exceptions of course as my Squier Affinity P has one of the oddest bridges I've - or anyone's every seen. It's not heavy, but it's not stock thickness or spacing and it certainly is original.
So - in the long run, a bridge is a bridge and unless one is looking for a artsy-fartsy logo or ignorant bragging rights, they are pretty much all the same. |

Even if they're not identical, they're so similar that there would be no difference in playability, adjustment or sound. I suppose that if you needed to fine-tune the string placement, you could change to the threaded saddles.

| | | | as long as it holds the strings off the body, has good sustain, and can adjust the intonation correctly then it is a good bridge. I've mentioned that i have a badass bridge as well, and it is in a box of parts under my bed cos I see no benefit from it whatsoever.

SurferJoe46: This info has been very helpful!!!
Pilgrim: I think I will change to the threaded saddles, this is good advice. in fact I read a thread by WalterW that said the same thing.
slaphappychappy: I aggree. The BA is too expensive for little benefit. I have modded my AFN P and replaced everything except the bridge and tuners. I just don't see the point. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
