Broken machine head

Sign in to disble this ad
My machine head is ****ed up. I looks like some little black bearing broke so now it doesn't tighten right. Does anyone know what pieces I need to buy to replace it? And do I buy the whole machine head. It's an ibanez gsr by the way.
I just fixed my fret buzz problem (had to adjust it from the bridge with an Allen wrench) and my d string snapped. Wow
And my intonation is kinda sharp and my screw wouldn't turn so I could adjust it!
How was your day?

Best thing to do is to buy a new one. You should go online and find out what kind of tuning key you need and then buy one. The can be a little costly but if you had a picture than it would be more helpful. Best of luck though.

So I'm guessing it's this I need,
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/B...ss_Tuners.html

If you look at that picture I posted you can see little black bands on the tuners, one of them broke. How did this happen? Or does it just happen?

The part you're describing is some form of split-ring washer. Should go something like this:

Tuner button > metal split-ring washer > white nylon washer. Sound about right?

Anyway, I've got one....do you want it?

Nah thanks it's fine. Do you know how it split or does it just do that?

Well, the black metal ring washer is split to start with. It almost acts as a locking washer although I'm not 100% sure of the purpose. I have seen them distort if overtightened. I'm not a huge fan of Gotoh-style tuners; I've replaced them all with Hipshots. If your needs change, let me know. I've got components to spare.
