Broken nut on Epi Explorer

My G string broke the nut.Sure is a lot of angle at the nut.I want to replace with a brass nut.Should I wind the D and G the oppisite way when restringing?Does anybody cut them to size to fit my bass?

Hi.

The current LTD run has the brass nut as a standard, contact Epi.
