| broken trusrod in a neck thru bass

Hi all...
I encountered a quite unamusing problem with my old little (literally) bass on which I originally learned to play...
It has always been in an aweful shape since I bought it. It's a washburn status 1000 with almost no paint left. I bought it in this state and just learned to play on it, liking the sound but not really doing much else than practicing at home. After a while I bought a stingray and didn't use the bass anymore.
While feeling the need to have a fretless bass, I brought my old bass to a (rather unexperienced) luthier who took a look. His verdict was the following.
- Somewhere in its career, the bass' trusrod got broken and one of the previous owners apparently put some kind of glue in there...
- the electronics are quite messed up and the soldering job will have to be redone entirely.
Is it still worth to save this bass? Is there a possibility to save the bass without using any big guns (a saw, an axe?)?
anyhow, thx |
