broken truss rod, ahhhhh!

So this is a problem!

Long story short, I just bought this bass that turned out to be too good to be true.

Its a warwick thumb bolt on 5er broadneck.

The truss rod just spins in both directions. Its an 07 so I belive it to be the 2 way. Can this be fixed/replaced without pulling the fret board?

Any help or advice would really help!

Does the entire rod spin. Just if it was only the nut this might work.

Yeah, the whole thing seems to spin. I can hear it spin about halfway down the neck if I listen carefully.

It seems odd to me though that the truss rod spins when the neck is and is not at tension.

Man, I am so bummed.

That vidio was cool though, I'm sure it will come in handy in the future!

ah bugger, sounds like you'll be pulling the fret board then, I don't envy you.
Best of luck dude.
I don't even know where you can buy a 5 string fret board.

If you knew exactly where the truss rod anchor was maybe you could remove only that portion of the fingerboard between fret slots and re anchor the truss rod some way. Maybe Warwick could tell you under which frets the anchor is likely to lie. If you're going to take the fingerboard off anyway it might be worth a try. And if it comes to that I'm sure Luthier's Mercantile has a fingerboard for you.
