Broken tuning peg, machine is fine

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all.

So my the tuning peg on my Squier Jazz Bass is broken, but the machine is fine. Any idea where I could find a replacement without having to a buy a whole new machine? I don't want to spend $40 for a $5 part. I've already tried to use the peg from a different Squier but it was too small. Gotta be Squier Jazz Bass tuning peg.

Thanks,
Dan.

Try your local music store/guitar tech. They probably have junk box for parts. Take your tuner with you.

^This. Especially the bold part.

Even though they'll probably sell You a complete one for $5-10

BTW, what makes You think it'll cost $40 for just one tuner? IME You can buy a whole set of "Squier-quality" tuners for that. Or less.

Regards
Sam

i too would ask guitar center. a few of my buddies were about to go into a session with some borrowed drums. kick drum had 3 busted lugs. we went in there and asked, they gave us 5 they had laying around. free. we were prepared to pay.

ive also had this issue. my only bass was bought on ebay. showed up with a busted D string tuner. the guy sent me a back of tuners that looked similar for free. i ended up having to combine pieces of the good one and the broken one to make it work without drilling new holes. the top of the tuner is almost identical, but the post was longer. my bass being a 5 string ray, i moved the odd ball tuner to the G and no one has ever noticed.

its a half inch too long. no one can tell because its on its own. for now, you might be able to stick the tuner back on there to tune like a drum key. i got away with this for a couple weeks. but ultimately, id fix it. and likely upgrade while you're at it.
