Question Building a Touch-Style Bass/Guitar

Sign in to disble this ad
I've wanted to get a TouchStyle guitar/Bass (Warr Guitar, Mobius Megatar, Chapman Stick etc.) but the one thing that has stopped me from getting one (like most people) has been the price. My friend suggested that maybe I could look into building myself. Now I am in no way shape of form qualified to actually build one, so I figured I would buy the body, neck, strings, pickups, etc. myself and put it together, but I can't seem to find a place to buy a body or neck for these instruments anywhere. I'm looking for a place to buy the Neck and Bodies for these types of instruments so I can look into putting one together myself.

TL;Dr: I want to a place to buy Warr Guitar/Mobius Megatar Style bodies and necks, or want to know if my only option is to buy one.

Keep in mind most "touch" instruments like chapman, use specialized bridges, nuts, trussrod systems (on the fly adjustments), frets........ that you just won't find from Warmoth or USACG and such

I don't think you'll just buy "parts" and make a stick, at least comparable to chapman that is.

Yeah, theyre not something you can find parts for thru warmoth etc. You might get one cheap thru krappyguitar works though. Dunno bout qaulity since theyre website advertising most of its stuff as low grade stuff

You could buy a 6-string neck-thru neck from Carvin, modify the headstock, and build some sort of bridge for it. Other than that, you'll need to go custom or build it yourself.

Darkstorm said you might get one cheap through Krappyguitar but is unsure of the quality. TheEmptyCell provided you with the link to Krappyguitars.com.

As a very satisfied customer of Krappyguitars.com I found Kevin Siebold very easy to comunicate with when I bought the Kerry12 shown on his touchstyle page a year ago. He now offers necks or semi-finished guitars and as the bridge is the most special part, he also offers those. Don't be misled by the talk of wood from refuse skips as this applies to the very cheap items he will buid. The touchstyle he takes very seriously and uses good quality hardwoods to your choice.

Hope this helps, and please note that I have no connection with Kevin other than a very satisfied customer in the UK.
