Just now I was tunning my G string, and I accidently tuned too High and it broke. Now I never noticed this but part of my nut was loose and it just broke off. My bass is the Warwick Standard Corvette. What do I do to fix it? And will the bass ever sound the same? Is it like permanant damage too it? I'm so worried right now.

Don't worry

A broken nut is not a big deal. Any decent repair shop will be able to replace it. If it's done decently the instrument will play and sound as good as ever - perhaps even better

yeah man no biggie, just go to your local shop and tell them you need a new nut, any decent place should be able to to it quite nicely.

If the nut just simply came out of the slot, and didn't crack in pieces, you can reglue it. When my thunderbird arrived, the nut had been knocked out during shipping. All I did was get a little bit of Elmer's Glue and glued the nut back into position. This of course, was a plastic nut. I don't know how well it would work with a brass or bone nut, if that is what Warwick uses.

If you are getting it redone, my recomendation would be graph-tech, many others like things like bone, but I am a big graph-tech fan
