Buying Knobs - what should i consider and should know?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi dear TB
Anyway straight to the point
I want to buy new knobs to my Tobias Killer B cuz imo the ones that currently on it, Are really ugly.
So yeah, I need 5 of them and i want them to be black

And inlay would be nice, Though it's just an option and not something i really "Need"... But i preffer it

Should i measure or know something? Any recommended Knobs? And i don't wish to spend a lot of money on the knobs.
No need for something special though i would like to know anyway.

Thanks TB.

PS: I ordered a Hipshot A Class bridge for my Tobias

Size and type. Some require an allen wrench to take off and put on, others don't. I don't know the names, but other people will help you.

Split shaft, or non split shaft.

Most basses are non, excluding the Geddy. I learned that the hard way. Check out TGH knobs for custom work.

Funny...every bass that I've owned has been split shaft (except for the Cowpoke, which is stacked...so a completely different story):

Hmm, I can take out the knobs easily, Just pull it out and it's off.
It looks split-shaft (Same as the pic above)

I seen a Push-On and a Set Screw knobs, What are these?

Push on knobs are generally for split shaft, and the set screw ones are for the solid shafts.

You also need to know the diameter of the shaft ... they are not all the same.
