buzz at 20th fret position on my fretless Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello.
I have a Fender fretless Jazz bass (the Jaco Pastorius model).
When I play the notes at 20th fret (the highest), I get buzz on all 4 strings. At the 19th fret position, I don't. What should I do to reduce the buzz? Should I set the action higher by adjusting the bridge saddles?

Thanks for your help!

no no no...definitely no...not @ the 20th fret...come on...

it's a high 20th fret...on a pro setup the frets are ground with a slight "fall away" to account for this issue

in "fall away" i mean that the upper frets have a VERY slight slope towards the bridge (they are lower in the upper positions)...

I do this on my basses (i do my own frets) it works well.

option 2...raise your action a smidge
option 3...take it to a pro
