buzzing fret on a headless bass

The 16th fret of the G string on my Hohner headless bass seems to be having a little buzzing problem. I've noticed that this is the only note that does not sound out correctly, all the others are fine, including frets 17+. They all ring out clearly apart from this note, when I pluck it I hear a little buzz from the string on the fret and get a very muted note.

I'm going to have it set up properly when I get my jazz bass, but I was just wondering what was causing this. Someone suggested that it might have been an overly straight neck, but this does not seem to be the case.

Any info appreciated!

I would suspect the string first.
a worn 16th fret could possibly be the problem.
