Can I replace my MIM fender Jazz tuners with Hipshot HB 2

Hello all,

I am aware that the Hipshot HB 7 is a direct replacement for the MIM Fender Jazz/p Bass however, I like the size of the HB 2 and HB 3 tuners better.

I know I would have to re-drill the holes, but this would work just fine right?

There is another issue to deal with besides drilling new holes for the mounting screws. The hole for the MIM headstock bushing is 23/32, while standard US headstock bushings are 11/16. There are a couple of ways to make this work. Use your stock bushings with the new tuners. Fill the existing holes with wood, then redrill to 11/16. Or use a shim to get the new bushing to fit. I chose the latter route, I found that a carefully trimmed piece of 150 grit sandpaper filled the gap perfectly when I installed my new bushings.
