Question Can I take off all the strings?

Can I take all the strings off while cleaning/waxing my Thumb? I somewhat just bought a Thumb and I'm planing on giving it a really good cleaning, waxing, and new strings this weekend, and I was wanting to know if its safe to go ahead and take off all the strings when doing all this. I'm very safe with it and do not want to mess up the neck.

Thanks

I always take off all the strings when changing strings. This makes it easier to clean the bass and clean the fretboard/fingerboard if it's a non-maple board.

As long as you don't leave them off long enough for the neck to move, you're fine. You have plenty of time to clean/condition the neck before restringing.

My CIJ '54 RI has no strings on it, been like that for a few days now (3 or 4, maybe 5). It has no bridge right now either. Check in the "Post Your Basses" thread. Posted a new pic that shows it today, so should still be on the last page.
