Can you put a Jazz neck on a P bass?

I am in looking at buying a new bass and realized that it would be cheaper to piece one together. Then I had the idea of putting a jazz neck on a P bass. So I don't know if this is completely out of the question or a complete possibility.

It works 99% of the time. Unless you use a neck with more than the standard number or frets (deluxe and aerodynes?). That will mess up the scale lenght. Ive done it with mex fenders and have had no probs. Sure enjoy those jazz necks with my little hands!

In the late '70s they made jazz basses with the 3 bolt "Micro-tilt" that'll require some fillin' and drillin' to fit the 4-bolt P body.

Funnily enough I was buying a new amp in Andertons about a year ago and, as my own much messed with 1973 precision was playing up, I picked up a Jazz bass re-issue that had exactly the same neck on it (feel-wise) as my 1973 Precision!!, which is nothing like a 73 Jazz Bass.
