changing the action after tuning down

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay, im kinda a newb to set-up on basses, but recently I just bought a Spector 6-string, and I currently play in two bands that both tune down to C. Since some of it is a lot of open, bottem ended playing, I have decided to tune my bass to CGCFAD. However, after doing so, ive tuned the B string up, to C, which is at a really good action, but the problem lies in that I have had to tuned all the other strings down, in doing so, they have become extremely low action and floppy which is kind of difficult to play with.

What do I do to change it so they are at the correct tension again whilst maintaining my tuning?

thanks,
JT

set up

i play in drop C myself, ACGCF, and after a good set up for that tuning you will find the action will tighten up a good bit. after i had it set up, it took a lot of the looseness and floppy string problems away. you may still get a little bit of rattle, but it should not be much if you get a quality set up. good luck
