Changing Bridge on Ibanez ATK

Sign in to disble this ad
hey everybody.i recently scored a brand spanking new ATK and iwant to change the bridge to a smaller more fenderish type of bridge,im not diggin the fact that the stock bridge surrounds the pickup and i want a little more room to rest my thumb. But i like how the strings go through the body,(i can feel the notes resonating through the bass).

So can you recomend a bridge that would still let me string through the body,or am i better off just leaving the bridge on?

I vote leave it on. IMO, a lot of the resonance you're getting is due to the fact that the ATK bridge has so much surface area and mass. Who knows how it would sound without it? I have two of em--great basses!

Thats were alot of the tone is generated with that massive bridge. Unless someone has done this before you it will be like stepping into unknown territory. But you should still have the option to change it back. Who knows if you don't take the risk you never will know. Go for it!

Why can't you add a thumb rest without removing the bridge?
