Changing Different tuning will messup action or neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering if I change my bass from standard tuning to half a step down for a few songs. Then change the tuning back to standard EADG. Will it cause any halm to the neck or the action?

I mainly play standard tuning and the band want to play some GnR songs and Duff tunes down half a step on GnR songs.

You'll notice slightly lower tension, which will result in a slightly flatter neck - but no damage at all to the bass.

You may have to raise your action slightly because the when string tension on your neck is lessened it will straighten out and may fret out towards the middle of the board. If you have already tried it and it made no difference your action is prabably high enough that it will be fine. Should not cause any problem to your neck.
