Changing hardware color

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really want to switch out the gold hardware on my SRX because 1: I don't think gold looks good with natural(I like contrast) 2: The finish is starting to tarnish and wear off

So I need some help figuring out what bridge to replace the stock one with. I was thinking a Hipshot A style bridge,or the transtone. I can't find any measurements of the bridge size. I know new holes are going to have to be drilled. Any other bridge suggestions would be great.

Don't know if it helps but here's a picture.

The pots are easy to replace. The bridge I would be wary about, as SRX has a specific body and bridge placement and changing that might change the sound to worse (or better). There are replacement parts for the SRX bridge from Ibanez, you might go with a chrome to avoid wear-and-tear -- not that that's nothing bad, just shows you use the instrument rather than keeping it up on a wall.

I think gold goes very well w/natural:

Your bass looks great. Get another.

When I first got it,I asked about OEM ibanez hardware and I heard it was outrageously expensive. I've had an ESP with black hardware for a little over 3 years now and it hasn't shown any signs of wearing.

Thanks. I like the gold somedays, and other days it's blah. Maybe it's just my OCD fighting the gigantic black pickups and there being no other black on the bass. I wish I could get another bass(ray34 ) but the lady friend wouldn't like that too much...although she's been wanting yet another pair of heels for whatever damn reason...I think I have leverage.

coupla things

1. Who mentioned pots? I thought we were talking hardware(tuners, bridge, knobs)
2. Heels ROCK, plus you can use the purchase as leverage for gear buys(assuming you're shacking up/married- otherwise, do what you want, while you still can).
And thanks.

Hey, watch that livin' together stuff- I lived w/a woman off & on for 8 years; on the Oct. 3rd we'll be married 16 years.
Back to basses- thanks(on the Warwick)- and next gig, wear a dark shirt- that blondie bass will pop right out.
