Cheap narrow string spacing Bridge?

Sign in to disble this ad
ahoy there,
i'm just wondering if anyone could recommend a cheap (but fully adjustable for intonation etc.) 4 string bass bridge with string spacing of .633.
.633 would be an exact match but i'm sure .656 would be fine. It's for an old japanese made kay/teisco bass that i bought a while back which has an amazing sounding pickup.
the bass itself cost me 70 pounds sterling, so i'm loath to pay upwards of 80 pounds sterling to buy and have posted to me from america a Hipshot A style bridge (100 dollars from their website) which seems to be the only type i can find with a string spacing of .656. Can find them cheaper on ebay but only with .750 string spacing.
Surely there's a better option???
I'm replacing the bridge because the current one has a single piece of metal on which all four stings rest that can only be adjusted by two screws on either end. meaning i can never get all 4 strings intonated.
It's not an amazing bass but i love the tone and am doing some recordings soon so any intonation issues that i can get away with live in a noisy club will be laid bare.
I play old school 60's soul and funk with a foam mute.
Any help apprectiated

I haven't, sadly, but they seem the best option for inexpensive, and tight string spacing.

Hipshot Bass Bridges

BestBassGear has them down to .669, and they're cool to work with if you need to order something they don't commonly stock.
