Cheapest Custom Pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
Without DIY, since I don't have a Dremel or a router, where should I go to get a pickguard made from a tracing? I'm looking for B/W/B to go on a Squier Precision 5-string that's been routed for a reversed P-bass pickup (offset 3x2 coils). I've been quoted upwards of $50, and I was hoping it would be closer to $30.

Maybe someone can help you but usually Custom = More $.
Even many standard guards are up over $30. It all depends on the material it is made from.

$50 for a custom PG from a tracing is a GREAT deal. WD or PG Heaven, (who both do EXCELLENT work) is typically on the $70-80 for something like that.

It's a lot of work. I wouldn't do it for $50.

Thanks for the input, I guess I'm taking for granted the work put into a completely custom 'guard. I was hoping to keep it cheaper, since I didn't pay much for the bass itself, but the hole I've made in the original guard in order to fit the P pickup is an eyesore.

shiping isn't free either.

Folks complain that they won't hold your hand and play email tag for hours... folks forget that they have materials, staff, lighting and profit to manage.

OR

Find a woodworker with a router table.

Pickguardian Custom Pickguards is making me a mint PG as we speak. He's charging me $55 + shipping and it's about a week turnaround. That's the cheapest and fastest I've found.
