Cheapest pricing for Fender pickguard/chrome covers

I have a Fender MIM Deluxe P Bass Special that I'm looking to make a little prettier.

From BassPartsResource, it's $73 + tax + jacked up shipping that I don't want to pay. (I think I like an hour from their warehouse?)

The PG is $40 (for a piece of plastic!?), the covers $15/$18. Any better places to look?

Wish someone would make pg' sans holes - the rest can be tweaked & fitted...

Did't even consider that an option.

Maybe I'll paint it. If I do that, is off the shelf spray paint and maybe a clear finish on top the best idea?
