Chicagoland luthier--recommendations?

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search; last Chicago-luthier thread was almost 3 years ago, and names/situations can change, so I'd appreciate any suggestions/updated info. Here were the names that turned up most frequently in my search and are within a reasonable drive (I live in Lakeview):

Carl Pedigo @ Lakland: Is he still able to take on outside work? I know Lakland's gotten bigger/busier. Shop's a mile away from me, and the feedback's been great, so this would be the best option.

Todd Seefeld, Guitar Remedies: Still around?

Jerry Loy, Player's Guitars in Worth: Same as above.

If anyone has recently had good/bad experiences with these folks, or can recommend others in the area, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Greg

I haven't used them but they may be worth checking out.

Thanks for the link! And yep, it's about a 15-minute walk. I can see Wrigley from the deck of my building.

Hey, thanks very much, Rodent. Just today I tentatively set something up with a luthier. I'll update the thread afterwards.

Peace,
Greg

Thanks for the suggestion, Beytill. Looks to be a real long drive (75 miles) for me, but I'll keep it on my list.

A big +1 to the Gene Liberty recommendation.
He's a technical wizard (his shop is amazing) and he's a genuinely nice guy as well.

It's with Carl at Lakland now--he's as cool as advertised. Thanks for all the advice, folks.
