Chip in paint rubbing my arm raw.

So my j-bass has developed a chip in the paint right were my arm rests on the body. It is rubbing my arm raw. What is the quick fix to smooth this out. I am not as much concerned about looks as not having a blister/sore on my arm. I would rather not have to take the bass apart to sand or refinish it.

I'd take some 0000 steel wool and gently rub the area until it's smooth. Or for the "Rock" look, just slap some duct tape over it!

Hi.

If the finish can take it a drop or two of CA glue will work also.

Regards.

Leave it alone. Blood on a bass is cool.

Sam

this is exactly what i've done in the past. be forewarned tho, that you should only do a drop or 2 at a time, as CA likes to run like CRAZY.... btw CA is what many here use to refer the stuff that's often marketed as "Crazy Glue" or "Super Glue", but it's the liquidy version and not the gel stuff.

I suggest taking a run to your local auto paint store and checking out the clear coat touch up paint. For example:

I had the same thing happen to my '78 PBass. I used 0000 steel wool. It has a worn look now, but it is smooth as it could be - no more discomfort!
