Chipped lacquer at the tip of the headstock

Sign in to disble this ad
I just noticed today, that my CV that I bought yesterday (bought it second hand, 1 month old, still had the plastic sticker on the PG), has a small chipped area at the tip of the headstock. It looks like bare wood to me, it's not smooth when I go with my finger over it.
Could I just put like a drop of nail polish, or super glue, or some kind of wood lacquer (except nitro I guess?)?

Here's a pic. It's a very minor damage, but I don't want it to spread, and you know what they say about having that first crack on your new bass.

Don't sweat it. This is the first of many nicks & dings that your bass will have as you play gig. Your new bass was meant to be played, not to be babied.

Have fun!

To answer your question, yes, you can put a drop of clear nail polish or go to an auto parts store and get some clear automotive touch-up paint that you can brush on. That should do the trick. If you were really handy, with the right sanding and buffing, you could make the touch up invisible.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot once I get my gf's clear nail polish.

Oh I'm all up for a little banged up mojo, had nothing against banging up my previous bass. But here, I can't help it, it's probably just an early pampering phase. You know, when you wipe it all the time even if you just touch it for a second.
