chrome plating

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just got a Modulus (which I love) but the chrome on the bridge is chipped, and looks gross while the rest of the bass is in very good shape.

I was thinking about purchasing a replacement bridge, but I thought, what if I just got the bridge re-plated in chrome.

Has anyone done anything like this? Any idea how much it would cost? Recommendations for good plating companies?

Thanks!

Hi.

I and my buddies have re-plated some MC and Hot-Rod stuff and it ain't cheap. I'm more of the flat black/if it doesn't run, chrome it variety though .

Your best bet is to search for Custom Bike or Custom Car shops for that kind of expertise. They won't probably do the plating themselves, but they sure as hell know who's the best and who's the cheapest. They may look as mean as a pitbull and are every bit as tough as they look, but I'd be willing to make a bet that their CS is outstanding.

Regards
Sam

I spent a fruitless day on the phone a couple months ago trying to get someone to re-plate a bathroom fixture that was no longer in production. Nobody wanted to do a one off job except for a couple who would charge an outrageous price. And I live in a city noted for metal work and plating.

If the bridge is available it's much cheaper and easier to buy a new one.

These guys have stuff you can use to do the plating yourself;

You can only plate over a smooth surface - so if your plating is chipped, all you will do is plate over it and still show the chip. It would be like painting over the chip.

I doubt you want to do it the way it would have to be done - which is to strip ALL the chrome off the bridge, then re-plate.

Your cost-effective options:

1) Live with it
2) Replace the bridge

Ebay may be your friend in this case.
