CIJ '62 Reissue Jazz replacement tuners

Sign in to disble this ad
I can't seem to find what tuners this will take. According to Hipshot the HB2's fit 67-82, but not a 62. I've seen mention that they might match up to the holes on the 62 RI though. Does anyone know for sure? My (new to me) 62 RI is in the mail. If the HB2s fit, I want to go on and order some so that I can shift the tuners on it to the 70s Schecter telejazz fretless neck my mom just handed down to me.

Anyone know?

i'd think they would be gotohs.

they're spendy, but the gotoh res-o-lites would be awesome for that bass.

The tuning keys on the Japanese '62 reissues are very different from the USA reissues, which all have the older reverse style tuners. On the Hipshot website, on the "Dimensions" page, are very detailed measurements for the HB-2. You should be able to easily determine from that drawing how close they are to yours.

I know thats what fits my old schecter neck via the measurements, but since the 62 Reissue is in the mail, I don't have the measurements on it.

As long as the original MIJ tuners weren't replaced at some point, there's a very high probability that -- as ajn said -- the HB2 style will be the direct replacement on that bass. For some reason (economy?) most of the MIJ '62 reissues have shipped with this (incorrect) style of tuner.
