CIJ Precision Pickguard Replacement

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently received this bass from a fellow TB'er. It is a 2004-2005 CIJ Precision. Thanks Steve!!!!

I love the bass but am not crazy about the pearloid pg. I would like to find a replacement. I've read a couple of threads about this and tried to find one by going to WD (had us and mexico, but no japan) and fender (no luck whatsoever).

I bought another MIJ Precision last year and wanted to replace the white pg with tortoise. I took it to a friend's shop and he ordered a standard allparts pg. It took some trimming around the neck but the holes lined up just fine. Was I just lucky? Will a standard US guard sometimes work?

I suppose I could get one from Jeannie's but aren't they pretty expensive?

I just went back to my friend's shop. He had a '62 Precision Reissue guard in white. I was hoping to get one in mint but the holes lined up perfectly and the price was right so I nabbed it.

I'm confused. This makes twice that i've put an american guard on a MIJ Precision and it worked great. I've read on here that it won't work. What gives?

I had to have one made for my CIJ Jazz. You are lucky

How far off were the holes?
