Hello,
I just put new strings on my Jazz and I have a rattle in the NUT only on the A string. This is because the angle of the A string after the nut is very small (the string is almost straight). And it rattles when I pluck hard... You know what I'm talking about...
I need to get the angle bigger, but how? I should put more string wraps on the tuning peg, but they are already cut for 2 wraps...
Is there any other solution? Or do I have to buy another string tree for the A string?
How do you solve this problem?
Thank you.
P.S. Please tell me if you don't get the problem.

Just wrap the A string all the way down to the bottom of the peg... next time. |

You could change the string tree with one of these from HipShot. It will hold down the A, D and G string. |

Maybe I'll buy a Hipshot string tree.
The bad thing is that my pegs are not straight, the have a "pit", groove...
Look:
And I can't wrap it down properly...

| | | | The Classic A string rattle Fender Jazz I have the same problem on a 62 precision bass, I get round it by buying an extra long scale A string. I dont want to drill holes in a vintage instrument and this works. |

As stupid as it sounds, you can wrap the string backwards on the peg until you are ready to change strings again. It will give it a better angle for the time being, but it will look dumb
