Sign in to disble this ad
I noticed the other day that there seems to be some kind of gunk or something on my frets . It kind of looks yellowish. I tried to rub it off but it didnt come off. anyone know of any housrhould cleaning agent that might do the job and not hurt the wood of the neck? Or sumthin i need to buy.

#0000 steel wool which you can find at most any hardware store.

If it's a maple neck, use some masking tape to cover up the fretboard, leaving only the frets exposed. If it's non-maple, like rosewood, don't worry about covering it up... just make sure you only rub with the grain of the fretboard (typically length-wise).

This will polish up your frets real nice and get rid of gunk. Might want to cover up your pickups too, as they'll attract the small steel particles which come off in the process.
