Cleaning Hardware

What is the best thing to use to clean hardware on a bass? i have an SGC Nanyo with gold hardware and want to give it a clean. Same goes for the body/neck and strings.

I use flix, metal polish on chrome, s/s steel and plastic, for painted wood.... Always a
Quality wax and buffing.
Take your time- enjoy the job.... Or is it just me who loves taking things apart and making perfect- perhaps a touch of OCD!
