I'm a newbie here, and need some advice. I just recieved about a month ago, my second bass, a Peavey Grind 4, and really like the way it plays. What type of oil do I use on this wood?

Thanks.

I think there is some finish on these basses. I owned a 5'er until last year and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a just oiled. That said, you should experiment in small areas. You don't want to pull color up from the wood itself, just clean off the grime. Usually a damp cloth with a waterbased degreaser will do this pretty well. Don't soak, just wipe on then wipe off till dry. That imbruya shouldn't change color. If it gets lighter, you might have to touch it up with some oil then.

For an oil, you might google "Teak Oil". I've had good success with this as a penetrating oil that doesn't manifest the hard, glossy finish that TruOil does. I apply it and let it sit a few hours before buffing off the rest.

To find out for sure what kind of finish is on it, try posting on the forum in the Support section of Peavey's web site. They have guys there who seem to know just about everything about everything Peavey ever made. I'm sure they could tell you exactly how to care for the finish on your Grind.
